I remember that. Active suspension was also big in Formula 1 in the 80's, with Senna setting loads of pole times in a Lotus. I've no idea why it's not got further in production cars, especially as the expensive bits, accelerometers and computers, are now dirt cheap.

I never realised they used it in some of 80's F1 cars. I can remember the early 90's Williams having it. I agree, you would have thought it would be more widely used.

I stand corrected on the pole positions, that was the previous year on non-active suspension. Memory not good at my age.

Nice one, aways loved the shape of that car. Brain damage from solid suspension explains a lot  best soften mine a bit

That car was quitly rotting away round the back of the factory when I was there

Active suspension never caught on on road cars as people don't actially like not having the feeling of the car rolling as they corner

I recall a mate driving his dad's Xantia Activa in the late nineties. Weird feeling. It still holds the record time for the "Moose Test" (The one where the A class merc rolled) ahead of 997 Porsches etc. Nuts.

Thats a bloody shame. You would have thought that they would preserve a car such as this.
