Hi everyone, sometime ago I posted a problem with my VX (it does not hold it's revs when it's hot and can cut out at traffic lights etc). I've had it hooked up to the car equiv of the ecg machine at a garage and it reports no problems. The garage are not convinced it's the coil pack, but have cited this as being the most likely cause. I can get the coil pack £25 cheaper than they can, so I wondered, it is an easy job to replace? i.e. do I need specialist tools or skills? It does annoy me that I can never find instructions for stuff like this. I bought a complete technical manual off ebay, but it installs TIS 2000 software and I can't navigate for anything useful! Sorry to , but to the experts - do we feel it's the coil pack, if so is it easy to change? Thanks K.

NA or Turbo? Not that it matters, either are a doddle to change. Remember to dry out the spark plug holes while you are at it.

Dead easy to put coil in . Unplug side plug by engine ., remove 2.0 turbo plastic cover. Torex set t30 I think , unscrew to bolts lift out

If its cutting out and not idling try unplugging the air flow meter and see if it does then. Easy thing to check. Or if there's someone in your area to borrow a coil pack to see if it cures it

Thanks everyone, not sure what the airflow meter looks like (grr, my kingdom for a manual). But this is looking as I thought, the coil pack should be easy to change.

Would be really helpful if you told us which version of the VX you've got. You'll spend a long time looking for an AMM if you've got a 2.2 NA.

possibly a sticky EGR valve, worth removing it to make sure it's closed
