Here is interesting test of track day tyres. It seems r888 is not the best choice. http://www.tyrerevie...y-Tyre-Test.htm

Who paid least for advertising.... Also, given the 888 is a pikey brand in that line up I'm not surprised it came last.

Not surprised by this either. There have always been better semi-slick tyres, just not many in the sizes we require (many seem sized for 18"+ wheel sizes), hence Toyo's and Yoko's have become the default setting..

I would have thought the size of tyre and what's wearing them has a lot to do with it too.

I dont know much about the others but when the Michelin sport cup plus tyres get hot they become tacky to touch, my bro gets about three track days and 2000 rd mls then change.

One would imagine if you have the budget to fit any of the top 4 tyres and run them for justified reasons then you would only care that they last one track day, anymore and its a bonus...... Snobbery ftw.

I've have a048s and 888s both are a good tyre. I found the 048s a tiny bit better but the 888s are still good and you definitely feel a difference between those and a regular treaded performance tyre, it gives a lot more grip on track. I'd happily buy 888s again if I was in the market for semi slicks.

Makes no mention of the Avon ZZR which would have mixed things up a bit.
