I just got a sheet of Aluminium and bent one edge using a vice and a few peices of wood. Looks spot on and cost £5.

Is there actually a part available? Thought they were all a bit "home made"?

Honestly Nick, it's not that hard to do. Plus there is the fact that it will be covered by the speaker panel thing 99% of the time.

please tell me your not cutting the chassis hole out? you do realise that this is an intrinsic part of the chassis and that cutting it is massively compromising the tub don't you?

Arguably you dont...that hole is not how the pump got there in the first place. I disagree that its massively compromising to cut it though. It would be better not to...sure.

Nah, I think it's only there for connecting up the wiring and the fuel lines. No way the pump gets in or out of that hole.

Look, you can argue it all you want, but any structural engineer will tell you the same, cut that hole out makes a significant difference to the structure of the car (in the same way the shear panel does under the tank). if your too lazy to take the tank out to change the pump, then that's your lookout. I have seen a few cars hit side on where that part of the chassis has folded up because it was cut out, but I guess if you have somebody sitting there that's their lookout is it? And yes, I have seen that Mikes car is like this and have spoken to him about it, however, it's his car and his decision. Personally, it's not something I would ever even consider doing, the original hole is questionable, but at least that was crash-tested like that. Anyway, I am sure some of you will ignore me and carry on.... Not my problem. (I do wonder what an insurance companies view would be on this kind of thing though...)

no, that's exactly NOT what to do.

look up stressed skins, and why folded structures are designed the way they are, then look at the tub and try and understand what that section of it is doing.
