Yes I'm really chuffed with the subframe, a lot of hours went into that! I've also tarted up the wishbones and shocks, I will update that progress next weekend, just waiting on the new nuts/bolts to arrive before I tighten everything back up. Almost time to put the wheels back on and having it sitting in its own weight after spending months on axle stands.

Todays work consisted of rebulding the rear suspension, car has looked bare for a while, so it was good to see it all back together. I also replaced the small neoprene sheets that go between the bottom of the chasis and the solid brake lines, and the sheer panel and handbrake where the cable forks off as the orginals were starting to come away.

The clips that secure the brake line to the chasis were damaged, so i got some that i thought were the same but they dont want to stay very tight in the hole in the chasis. Anyone know the correct clip i need? its the white clip in the pic below along with one of the old neoprene sheets.

Anyway this little lot arrived, stainless nut and bolt kit and new nuts/bolts for wishbones and dampers.

By the time i was packing up it was dark but still took a quick snap of the progress

Tomorows job list is to bleed the brakes/clutch, fit my larini exhaust and then see if it will start after its hibernation!

Be careful not to get petrol on the paint as it will strip all your hard work unless you got petrol resistant laquer.

Didn't use any clear coat, just the colour. Seems quite durable but I'm not going to dip it into petrol to find out lol

Subframe all back together, note the nice shiny freshly painted shocks, look great, however after taking them apart to paint and fit the new spring colars one of them has sprung a leak. I was worried this would happen when messing with them however it would have probably only been a matter of time before it went anyway. So thinking nitrons all round now...?

As it stands now after refitting everything and tidying up the exhaust heatshield and re-riveting:

Plans now are to:

*New suspension, thinking some sort of Nitrons

*New tyres

*Tillet B5 seat to go in, need to sort a harnes and bar

*Bodywork repair, ive started filling some small cracks and chips

*Paint

A lot of work there. Better get your alignment checked or wait till you get your new shocks.

Forgot that off the list, yea I'm going to get a fast road geo. I use centre gravity for that. Should be well sorted with that lot carried out.

Have you used centre gravity before? They seem to get highly recommended from other forums

Yes I've used them a couple of times, very good at what they do, and as a bonus are only round the corner from me. Never had the vx geod though so looking forward to that.

Are you fitting the S Drive to std wheels? If so can you get some pics of them fitted to the wheel please. Liking the B5 seat as well.

Are they the xl ones? I had the xl ones on the front and they were excellent, but could only get the normal ones on the rear and the sidewalls were quite a bit softer which meant you leant into them a little more.

Yep they are going on the standard wheels. what is it you want to see specifically?

The fronts are, rears are not. how did you find the balance?

How did you do that?

By spending far too much time on it than i probably should... cleaned about 10 times with wheel cleaner and a brush, then a mixture of sandpaper, scraper, and polish.

Would like to see how much the tyre hangs over the rim compared to the std 175 tyres.

The fronts are, rears are not. how did you find the balance?

The equal amounts of grip but there was a bit of lean onto the tyres on the rear. Before I got the rears I had ku31 xl on the rear and the s-drives on the front. The balance was great, nice grip in the wet and the wear on the rubber was minimal. Wrightstuff said he wouldn't be anywhere near me on track because obviously I was going to come flying off at the first corner because I had 2 different brands front to rear. I would have preferred if they had done xl rears to be fair, but I drive differently to others so see how it feels to you.
