yeah that...what are you doing....changing the steering wheel for something else?For the 2 min it takes to disconnect the battery I do it to be sure but yes, no ignition should be fine. I'd play it safe.

i was looking into getting one but decided not to as you have to take the steering wheel off. Post some pics up when you have done it.

Yea but by the looks you used a massive fukcing hammer.
To the original poster, it's worth having a few small screws of various sizes for when you do this. I found that the holes drilled on the CF surround are in the right places, but too big. The screws I removed were now too small to fix it firmly in place.
