Well I thought it would be interesteing to see a different prespective and chart the progress of the Elise (especially as I never do anything to the VX!) I've got some ace stuff planned for the Elise so I figured it was worthy of a project thread.

Here she is stock 3 weeks ago after the long drive back from Slough to Wakefield:

Hardtop was removed and sold to a Seloc'er cant be having that OEM tat on my car can I!?

One of the main reasons for getting the Elise was as a (very expensive!) way of getting a mint clam to take a mold from. After running the car for a couple of weeks I took it off the road today to crack on with the serious business of stripping it down to get the clam off and carry on stripping the car ready for a full respray when we get the clam back.

Going OK so far. The car seems to intermittently smell of coolant. No sign of HGF yet so I was thinking rad. On closer inspection we had one rounded clam bolt on the top and some odd gum stuff shoved in the rad so it looks like the previous owner has sprung a leak on the old (original) rad and failed at removing the clam and sold up! I'll be very happy if its a £130 fix of a new rad!

I'll try and keep this updated anyway although we'll probably stall for a bit waiting for the clam to come back.

Looks nice mate, like the colour too. Engine mods planned or just bodywork? which is it, 12, 135 or 160 bhp?

Just bodywork might look at the engine side of things when the HGF lands lol Its just a boggo 120 with no frills at all.

Are you sticking with the same colour when you go for a respray?

Bit of progress on the Elise got the clam off. It was cracked despite never been off the car. On closer inspection it appears to have had a bit of a bump low down on the offside they must have repaired without removing the clam. Havent had chance to weight the clam but its noticeably lighter than the VX one despite appearing to have more to it ie the middle bit where the bonnet is on the VX.

Now looks like this. The Rimstock wheels have been sold today. Although they are light and apparently reasonably sought after they werent bling enough for this "show" car so while I wait for the TD's from the Demon Tweaks offer the poor little Elise is looking like this for the foreseeable future:

Might be useful for people to see the rad surround. I'm sure someone mentioned it could be fettled to fit the VX but its clear from this that its totally different and could not me modified at all to fit the VX.

Well after the departure of LY85 and sorting out a few bits on the Exige it left me with a bit of time to spend on the Elise (which I'd totally forgotten about really as the front clam mold is still work in progress)

My folks called time on my storage of it at their place so today I fored it up and brought it home. Had a rad the shed for an age so this got put on it today:

New front end is due by the end of the month and got some really great new carbon parts on the way too so should be in for a respray and finishing off pretty soon!

Well at long last we have a bit more progress on the Elise. The front clam mold proved to be tricky to get right. The mold had to be done a second time due to some detail issues. Eventually managed to get the car in to have one of our clams fitted to it and a full respray in Mexico Blue
