The trailing edge of my front bonnet bounces about when I'm driving, but it is flush when stationary.  Can this be fixed?

Yeah, adjust the stops and the latch spring.  Its a ball ache but you can do it.

I know about the stops, and they keep the bonnet flush when stationary, so I can't raise them.  So what do I need to do with the latch spring?

Ya mine was the same need to tighten the catch spring peg thing so it pulls it down more onto the stops Make sure you have your locking wheel nut key as if the bonnet sticks you may need to free it by poking around with the passenger wheel off and the liner out the way

slacken the locking nut then screw the peg in a turn a t a time try to mark exactly where it was on the bonnet or it either won't shut or won't open

Makes no sense sitting here.  Best I go outside and have a look.  Good tip about the locking wheel nut!

If you look at the centre of the spring you'll see it's got a flat head mark on it. Take a screw driver and tighten it a couple of turns.

Bollox.

Loosened the big locking nut off, and the mechanism shifted all over the flamin place!!  There was no way in hell that spring was going to screw in, even with a very large screwdriver.  Nearly went through the bonnet trying.

So gave it up as a bad job, tightened the locking nut back up, and closed the bonnet.  Will it open?  Will it fcuk!!  Even with judicious raging on the bonnet.

Sometimes I should just get 'people' to do these things   :angry2:

So now one person hold the bonnet lever inside the car trying to open it while you wriggle and pull the lid open Then when you close it again loosen the catch a bit so it sorts its own position out

Stick a bit of velcro on top of stops and on underside of bonnet. Worked for me.....

The stops nearest the windscreen might be okay but the other two stops need to be tight to the bonnet too. I wouldn't touch the pin (oops)

Have you tried raising the 2 stops at the front of the bonnet lifting the front up a bit and this might force the screen edge of the bonnet down.

Hi Horace,

Definately try the two people approach to fully pull the cable/latch oped, while you jiggle the bonnet around to free it up.

I had the same issue with mine after I'd messed around with it. Centre pin adjustment was the fix for me:

- good luck, hope it opens up sooner rather than later.

I wish I'd waited...

Velcro and adjusting the front stops (which I didn't know existed) would have been a much less stressful solution.

The fact still remains that the centre pin would not screw in.  Do I just need a bigger bigger screwdriver and risk shearing it off?!

Problem with velcro is it wont last, and has difficulty sticking to the rubber stops,

you could always try to push (bend) the locking plate down a bit so the center pin

locks slightly lower, I tried everthing on mine even fitted a new center pin, in the end

rasing the rubber mounts cured mine, no issues now.

I even considered fitting allen key bolts the edges like the elise s2's have.
