Knowing I had to change my track control arms on the rear of the car before getting MOT'd, so the car was overdue for its MOT so when I'd done the work I booked it in at my local kwik fit which is 5mins down the road. I dropped it off and living so close I went home to watch FP3 of the Canadian GP. I then returned to pick up my car, unfortunately it had failed due to it number plate being too small, the car has had the same plate since I owned it so but it was 'illegal' so got a new plate, fitted it and got it retested yesterday, picked it up after work and drove to see some friends, opened the passenger door and found this:

I popped back in this morning to discuss this and a few of the guys that were in including the MOT tester said they all said 'it wasn't me!' Obviously I'm livid and meeting the manager tomorrow as he was out today, really regretting going as I really should've known better!

What is also frustrating is not knowing on which of its visit this damage was done, but am certain it was done while it was in their 'care'

Dont think any of them will accept responsibility

I noticed someone had curbed my wheels when I left vauxhall after warranty work but as I didnt check it over before I left they didnt accept it was them.

Thats bad though how they can do that and hope you dont notice it

Ugg, the only way to avoid this is to take copious pictures of it in their premesis before you hand the key over. I did this once (at a different company), and they were so startled to see me doing it they took bloody good precautions when working on the car.

Check the underside of the other sill too. They may have knackered that too, just not quite as badly as they've done on the side pictured.

Have you got any photos of the sill area before it went to Quick fit?

That really sucks. A case of arguing liability isn't a pleasant one. I hope you manage to get them to admit liability. If its any help my cill was probably slightly worse and I got mine sorted for £150.

Thanks for the replies, sadly I have no photos of that sill from recent months, if at all! But I know for certain it was fine as I had to pop the bonnet from the passenger side to replace a sidelight bulb about an hour before it went in. I'm pretty sure I'd would've noticed that! I know every one of my cars ever growing list of blemishes (damn osmosis!) and this was not there before!

Wankers. I never leave my car with anyone. If I can't do the work myself I just sit in the passenger seat.

Um... Didn't you leave it with someone in Gary's unattended?
