Isn't there a land line nearby you can use? Even payphones are free for 0800 numbers (at least they used to be)

You're right Bob, it's an outrageous cost, when it's supposed to be free.
If you're on a smartphone there are a whole world of apps you can download that convert the 0800 number into a regular landline number so should just come out of any minutes allowance you have.

And what was the outcome?

I got the call back today, price of £485, which is pretty good :)

I havent factored in the labour costs. My car is a previous cat D, so that does have an impact, but the thread the otherday of costs made me rethink what a replacement cost would be

Stage 4 turbos come up, but even a stage 3 SC is very rare to come along, so it would be a buy and rebuild if something bad happened.

Basic NA + CF setup + OZ wheels + Exhaust +stage 3 internals+Harrop+OBDTuner=£????*

*17k? seem fair?

My insurance is up for renewal, I'll phone them tomorrow and see if they are willing to commit to insuring a practically standard VX that resides in Beirut Macclesfield

I got a really good price quoted from them, incl commuting, all mods and track cover, and saying track excess is the same as road which sounded great. However i did not have much confidence in the sales rep, she was a little vague. So I asked for a copy of the quote and the policy in writing, and there was no special exception for track cover on the schedule and track was specifically excluded from the policy. I asked for clarification but all went quiet ( after them calling me almost every day). So back to Cci I went, who reduced my renewal quote so I am paying not much more than these guys quoted. Worth it to deal with people who know what you are talking about I think...

Just tried Classic Line, Stage 4 = £797!!

My last quote has gone up from £492 because they said that was for a standard car, which is wrong it was supposed to be for all mods declared stage 4?

Just had a Base quote of £435 from these guys, whatever a 'Base' rate is? They are gonna ring me back tomorrow for my stage 4 price but they did ask what I was currently paying!

We'll see.

That's a shame. If anyone needs clarity or reassurance on us knowing about mods or indeed track day cover and excesses, by all means ask for me (Rich) and I'm happy to help and explain key points on the policy.

Thanks for this post! After seeing it I gave them a call and they have saved me £400 over CCI's best quote.  The customer service I received is much better too.

Cool. Tbh they took ages to call me back with their best offer but it was over £100 cheaper than the initial phone quote which was already good. Just hoping I can squeeze in enough track days!

Sorry Mr CCI, I was making sure the fuel system was up to FiA standards by testing the take off system and some Eastern European looking chap carelessly discarded a lit cigarette whilst walking past and the next thing I knew.......

Is insurance not about putting you in a position you were previously in before any accident?

If so, how much would it cost me to buy a car of similar age/miles/spec? Take HH's LY for example, what did JB sell that for? £10k, plus £5k for SCing bits, £500 for wheels, £700 for AP Bells/Discs etc etc plus labour to build it and deliver it to my doorstep to put me in a position comparable to where I am today?

Or have I missed the point?
