Good afternoon gentlemen?

Messing with stereo again, think I have the wiring figured out & want to check if this sounds correct.

  • 6.5" speakers behind your ears are connected to the front output of head unit
  • As fitted in factory, Tubby tweeters are wired in parallel to speakers (i.e. front ouput split at ISO)

Related question - I want to send front output from head unit to new tweeters (I think the old ones are dead anyway), and rear output to main speakers (long since replaced by Infinity coaxials).

Does this sound like a terrible idea to anyone?

Already have a small Bazooka sub

Thanks in advance

Are you sure tweeters are wired in parallel? There is normally some sort of crossover filter.

SteveA - thanks for the vote!

Did you end up with tweeters on rear channels or did you swap outputs round?

turbobob - dunno! (hence the original post!)

What I can say tho is:

- at the ISO connector this happens:

    [*]FL+    2 wires
    [*]FL-     2 wires
    [*]FR+    2 wires
    [*]FR-     2 wires
    [*]RL+    no wires
    [*]RL-    no wires
    [*]RR+   no wires
    [*]RR-    no wires
    [/list]

    - there is no sound coming from the tweeters

    - the wires at the tweeters look nothing like any of the wires behind the head unit

    - haven't seen anything that look like a crossover

OEM tweeters have a little filter integral to the wiring. Nothing as fancy as crossovers.

techieboy - do you know if the OEM tweeters are wired in parallel to the main speakers?

Looking at the wiring diagram, they are indeed wired in parallel.
