In some ways I am glad it has gone so quickly... As unfortunately I had been pondering long and hard about this car and had found a way to scrape the cash together to buy it and then get the chains done - but it could have come at a 'marital' cost, unless she could have been persuaded that it was a 'solid investment opportunity, though I suspect not!!!!

I would never open up and engine just to do chains is a waste of time. How many have failed 5? 10? Bit of a myth we have I think. If they start rattling then panic!

Oh also I always find the best may to make a risky purchase maritally is to buy the thing first and put up with the sulking afterwards!

same as vxT's why change the cambelt, not heard of many snapping :huh:

 

Perhaps General Motors got it wrong when they said the chains should be changed at 100k, they must be total idiots :P
