Hi All,

so changed the engine and gearbox this weekend, the car wants to start but doesn't.  It has spark and fuel pump is fine, checked the fuel rail etc all good.

I have checked all 5 earth points in the TIS, cleaned everything up.  It turns over but won't start up, there is a pulsing buzz from the ECU.

Had a quick look on here and found the ECU earth can be a problem, we've currently got the wire from the left bank of the ECU going to a bolt on the throttle body.  Can anyone confirm if this is right?

any other ideas?  eeeeek

Cheers

Have you made sure the pins on the ecu are clean? Unclip the plugs etc

that is not good, the tb is not really connected to a good negative source, so ensure the ecu is connected to the engine block or cylinder head

a good way to test the injectors is to remove the fuel rail with the injectors attached and connected, then crank the engine over for a second whilst holding a piece of cardboard below the injectors, you should get an even pattern from all four injectors

I got a non-starter after my SC conversion with 999 degrees when I forgot to plug the blue connector in.

Claws thanks for that you're a star, that's not where mine is currently. Although I don't have that C plate on mine anymore.  I assume one of the other bolts would be ok?

i think the sensor is in fine as it was reading normally and then changed to 999 after we checked the ECU pins

just having a pizza break then will try again :) keep em coming.

first place to start again at, ensure there are no broken or damaged pins.

Just in case, the 'thicker wiring loom' ecu plug goes to the four rows of pins socket and the 'thinner wiring loom' ecu plug to the three rows of pins row socket. Easy mistake fitting them the wrong way round on the ecu.
