i have just sent my wife to have a sit in a VX220.

she says that she struggles to operate the pedals fully with the seat fully forwards. she is just under 5'3".

i am 6', so would need the seat fairly far back.

how easy it is adjust the position of the runners to bring the seat further forwards? i presume you cannot get longer runners to offer a greater range of movement?

cheers

alex

My wife is 5'2" but won't even set foot in my car.  Wimp.

How about wooden blocks like short round had in Indiana Jones?

i am buying the car for her (well that is my 'story' anyway), so she really should be able to drive it (probably).

i had a different wife then... she was even shorter (5') and didn't have a hope.

i know that elises have a second set of holes in the floor so you can bring the runners forward by about an inch or so. is the vx220 the same?... and if so, how much rearward movement is there in a vx220... (i'm stuck in my office so can't even get out to try one out). i don;t think i had my seat all the way back in the elise, so that might be the option.

i've just spoken with the chaps at Plans Motorsport (they looked after my SVA Sport 160 Elise). they reckon they can modify the existing mounts & runners to bring everything forward by an inch or so.

i now just need to check that i have a good inch or two of rearward movement

Are you the male version of Snow White? :P

I know it has been done in an Elise but I don't know enough about the VX to be of any help. Sorry.

There is no facility to move the seat runner forward on the VX220. The front mounting holes are just before the ridged section of the chassis you stand on getting in.

What about a taller wife / platform shoes? Or you could probably come up with some form of pedal extension, but you'd perhaps f%^k up the driving position, leaving it more suited to a chimp-like physique.. Bit like most Renaults then I spose..

If you have the seat modified forwards then get her those breasts you were on about they might foul the steering wheel.

Jan is 5ft 1.5 inch tall and drives my VX no problem. But she is more comfy with a cushion behind her to sit more upright. I think FABs daughter is the same or slightly less height from when they both discussed driving them at the National and she also drives the car no problem so 5ft 3 should work .

It depends on her proportions. If she's leggy she'll have no problem and that's a serious statement.

Feel free to post a pic though and we'll give our assesment thumbsup ;)

Yup,,, that's me.... Been on there for donkeys years... And seloc too (although as Alex g on there).... I've only very recently branched out into ruffling feathers on the vx220 forum by innocently expressing an interest in buying a vx220 from a willing seller for a criminally low figure. I'm a witch... Burn me!
