Nothing to do with me, but might be of interest to a member. I'm a big fan of the kit and it's at a very decent price at the moment if it stays around that level, someone could get a bargain. With the monitor it would be £1300 new and looks in very good condition.

Sorry fellas, and I was thinking I was doing .org a favour, doh. Did you win it D3YMO? They hold their value well, Not the bargain of the century but that price is still a saving of £370 for a unit that is as good as new.

The bigger problem is they're not worth more than £500 to start with. Can't believe they get away with the prices they charge, especially given how crap the video quality is.

I agree, they are very expensive bits of kit. But when you look at alternatives, even cheaper options can still work out expensive: Gopro has lovely HD footage, but tends to get image motion wobble on track day footage. They start at £200 and that's for one of them, you need to charge them up, there is no software for analysis or gps datalogging or picture in picture data synching. You can do work arounds with Harry's lap timer and Track vision software to synch up and add in extra camera views, but that's a faff. If you bought all the separates it would start to add up. There is SmartyCam single camera unit which is about £500 with built in gps, video and software. Harry's lap timer is a good compromise budget alternative. The picture quality is not super sharp on the vbox but when viewed in the analysis software it is reasonable enough and certainly good enough for its purpose of driving analysis, going HD (apart from looking crisper) wouldnt add anything to that aspect.

Plus then there is the question of how good you need the video. People are obsessed with HD these days but does it really help you analyse your lap data any better?

if you can picture the data properly you don't need video at all.. but it does help make it easier.. quality on the video vbox is pretty sh*t tbh.. its only 480p, although you dont need it to be any better for lap analysis if you want to upload it to youtube for others to see its a bit sh*t.

Only on a clean lap though Chris. When I had a PBox I was quite regularly puzzled as to why one lap was slower than the previous one. When I went back through my camera footage and worked out which data trace belonged to which video it turned out that someone was in my way. I took all the same lines but backed off at certain points making it misleading. The synced video makes it massively quick and easy to analyse. I agree that vbox's are expensive but they are a great tool.
