the top bolt backed out, i have since changed the setup and added an additional nyloc to ensure it cant back out in the future.

The oil filter housing sits directly below the alternator, and everything has AN fittings and none had come out, just simply split , i dont use push lock fittings.

anyway car is alive, is lighter and makes more power than before

so let me get this right.. (assuming since you haven't suggested you run an aftermarket mounting system and commented on the top bolt points to a standard system..)

an alternator which is held on by 2 bolts and is tensioned by an integrated alternator tensioner system, somehow loosened the top bolt, tenstioner bolt came all the way out (which is about 30mm)  and rotated around the bottom bolt (which would have to be loose also) and cut an an8 (at a guess, maybe an6) braided hose..

what you are suggesting is that Nut A came loose, the bolt for that nut which is recessed in the mount, C came out enough to give no tension on the belt and then B came loose also and somehow the alternator dropped 3£ and cut through a braided hose..

And it all happened so quickly that the belt didn't slip at all and put up a battery warning light therefore giving you a signal to stop the car.

Not getting involved, but I was always strongly advised against nylocs in hot areas..

Chris is on fire tonight! Lol @ pun. Anyway, got to admire your ongoing kicking of this horse. Has the car achieved any notable results in its running life? I’ve got to admit it’s been distracting following its disaster course, and I’m not sure how well it’s been lapping during its sober periods

Yup, conelocks only in the engine bay (either that or proper torque spec)

chris is just angry for some reason, must be because i blocked him on facebook after he asked me lots of private info on messenger last year pretending to be my friend, then posted it all on here, he thinks im lying about the alternator, even though the car did 5 track days with the current braided oil lines without issue.

You can see the split in the pipe that sits directly under the alternator and notice the alternator is not mounted to the engine......but of course i could have secretly taken the alternator off and took an angle grinder to the braided hose i suppose....not really sure why but if it helps him sleep at night.

Looks like the alternator shorted out on the braided line.

that might well have been the case, i hadnt thought about the live cable ontop of the alternator shorting on it and blowing a hole in it, as thinking about it, because it rotated around the lower bolt it would have brought the live cable from above the alternator to below it where the line was

There looks to be a burnt part on the filter housing matching the braided line as well.

i deleted 2300 people off my page to take me down to 350 as all i found was things i posted on facebook were then copied and posted onto forums. Basically anybody i didnt speak to within the last few months on there or didnt follow their builds got deleted, made a big difference to my feed as it just left all the cool car stuff as when you have that many people add you, your feed just ends up being full of their personal rubbish you dont care about
