Hi all, I have been looking at replacing my tyres and found out that the front tyres are 175/55R17. Australia doesn't stock these tyres at all! I was planning to run semi slick tyres as well. So my question is what size after market wheels have people installed on the turbo model? Offset width pcd etc? Looking forward to some responses...

If you like the style of what you have buy a set of rear wheels and put them on the front. Same tyres for front and back and more options?

We have the same problem here with the front tyres (however not as bad as you), most people change to 16 inch alloys at the front which increases options.

Wheel fitments are:

7J x 16 5x110ET20 65.1 bore for fronts

7.5J x 17 5x110ET36 65.1 bore for rears

This allows the use of 195 x 45/50 x 16 tyres on the front, and standard 225 x 45 x 17 on the rears. We usually buy team dynamic 1.2 alloys as they are common here, however any place with a stock of blanks should be able to make you something.

Alternatively some Holdens may have the same PCD, so sourcing from 16 inch holden alloys for the front may be an option. A few members here use Vauxhall Astra alloys on the front.

If you like the style of what you have buy a set of rear wheels and put them on the front. Same tyres for front and back and more options?

Hard to do when there's only one VX in Oz. Plus handling is awful.

You'll get more tram lining, and less feedback close to the limit. null point though as there simply isn't another set of VXT alloys in Australia.

As said, could try some Holden alloys. I didn't want to go 16" on the front (though 195/50 tyre sounded good) as I have loads of local speed bumps to contend with. Had Team dynamics pro race 1.2 on my last car so didn't want those. for now just got some Vauxhall Vectra sri alloys 7x17 all round. Need spacers to correct the offset but for £240 for freshly refurbished alloys (+£60 for spacers/nuts as they are et+41) I couldn't say no. I think they look OK with Kuhmo ku39 205x45x17 front and standard 225x45x17 rear tyres.

....Or you can go for 195 40 17 (elastic bands) or 195 45 17 which will go straight onto your 17" fronts. .

Just be wary of the front rubbing if you go for a wide rim.

I like those. 17x7.5 with a 205x45x17 front and standard rear?

Yes. 5x110 Pcd, 65.1mm bore, et+26 front, et+35 rear, though you might want to adjust the offset if changing from the 5.5 and 7.5" widths.

Just for your information, when I changed to my current Compomotives on my Tubby, the sizes and offsets are:

Front et20 PCD 5x110 c/bore 65.1 7x17

Rear et30 PCD 5x110 c/bore 65.1 8x17

These have been fine in regards to fitment and rubbing.

I've got the standard Contis on the rears, and Kumho KU39 205/45 on the front. When the rears wear out I will get the same Kumhos, but maybe go a touch wider as the rims are a bit wider.
