do you think a big stone or a can kicked up could have caused this, not very big but big enough for a fairly hefty clonk

the only time i knew of a car parked close was last Saturday night or at the hotel during the week..or am I polishing to hard :)

Clam off job to do it right. Needs glassing behind and filling. Clams been off for a new rad this tear so no stuck bolts at least.

Looks almost like a stress fracture. No visible impact mark.

That'll be it. Whole clam would've flexed then cracked at the weakest point.

And you know exactly when that happened and who did it. Last Saturday night at Milton Ernest and those two fat munters in the sequins, driving that black Astra G, that was parked 0.5mm away from the front of your car. :(

That's a clam and grille off job by the looks of it.  Removing the grille can more of a pig than removing the clam unfortunately, if it's tigersealed on.  Does look like touch impact damage.  Once it's reinforced with fibreglass from the rear it will be stronger than original, you may even get away with just a hairline crack being visible.  Sorry to hear this.

That's nothing,,,, some &@?£ 'bump parked' into the back of my VX..... I have about 8 cracks like that on my lower rear clam and a nice crack on the main rear clam. No note left, just damage...,. Grrrr The car is off to the bodyshop tomorrow for a new lower rear clam and repair of the main rear clam. Not a great introduction to VX ownership by all accounts.

I have that crack and a matching one the following side, I've always assumed it's from where the car at some point has been a little close to a curb or similar.

Just another one of my winter jobs, had the clam of before and a repair looks simple, it's just getting the old grill off as there is a fair amount of tigerseal on there.

I've got one of those.  Came from when I parked too close to a kerb.  Bust the plate and got one of those cracks.  Deffo a touch parking job that.
