Will it ever happen?  Be nice to just unlatch and swing up the rear clam for engine access.

Hell yes (it would be so so so nice).

 Reckon a hinged sub frame for the clam wood do the trick. Lots of examples out there.

Can't recall any jules. I'm sure in these times there's a decent engineering shop out there that would welcome the work. Just not near me.

If I've been waiting for one thing in the 8/9 years I've had my vx it's been some sort of quick release 'kit' I'm not even bothered about it being hinged.

it certainly is and I would like one but is it worth the hassle and money??

Guess it depends if your doing it yourself or not as I'd imagine it would be quite labour intensive?
