Something I've just finished off...

 

I've made a one off prototype to suit my leather centre console. Fitment to other types of console may differ. Bright brushed finish

 

I can offer these at £20+P&P. Stainless fixings included.

I will be refitting the console tomorrow, at which point I'll get some in car pictures.

 

 

I am also prototyping this gate (will be the same price). I've done a trial fit, seems good so far....pictures to follow soon.

Yep, stainless fixings included. 

 

I should point out that to get the gator to fit correctly it needs re-positioning slightly higher to allow for the thickness of the surround. Not a big deal. Its fitted with split pins through the console. Just make some new holes a little higher and fix it back in. I found it much easier by removing the centre console (the hardest part of the job!).

Paul, I fancy the gate type but when I was shopping around I went to view a yellow VXt in Reading & besides the other issues that turned me off it was the gate on the gear console. The console had to be fixed loosely for when the gear stick went through the gate it moved the console to the side otherwise I think it would have prevented selecting a gear. Have you the solution?

The gated ones have been tried before people haven't liked them. Apparently they make the gearing awkward and unnatural

I've not had much chance to properly test my gate prototype yet, but I know what you mean. My concern is the variations between cars and the way the selector cables are adjusted. I might get it to fit my vx just fine, but then it might not fit so well for others. Time will tell.... The surrounds are gathering decent interest, I'll get a batch of them made now I think. Would anyone be interested in an anodised finish? I'd have to get some quotes for it.

Yes, I think anodised black would be very interesting. Price dependant I'd probably be up for one of those.
