I turned the crash thing off. If have have an accident and then drive for 3 hours without clicking the save button then I need a slap.

Bit of a thread resurrection but my 0801 mini DVR caught this idiot yesterday...

Footage can be seen here (Smooth radio is to blame for the music, so apologies in advance)

Not even subtle about it. It's about as blatant as it gets!

I thought about this and then decided I'd report it to the po-po who are coming around this afternoon for a statement!

In London, unless there's a camera a red light is now viewed as a suggestion. Here's my own favourite, I was doing the speed limit, well within 10mph anyway when this happened. The woman got out the car without a scratch but was very worried about her hair :beat:

I thought about this and then decided I'd report it to the po-po who are coming around this afternoon for a statement!

I don't think you should have reported it.  In fact I don't think it comes even close to being bad enough to be reported to the police.  I witnessed something far far worse at traffic lights in Manchester which I had on dashcam and didn't even consider reporting it.  I myself have (quite unintentionally) run a red light at the last moment.  The other day I did an overtake on a road I'm not familiar with and through error of judgement failed to get back on my own side of the road in time.  I very rarely do it as it's something I studiously try to avoid, and I remember the place where I did it previously about 18 months ago.  These things happen.

Yes the driver was stupid and certainly antisocial but did that driver do anything that actually affected you in any way or endangered you personally in any way (or even drivers coming in from the left for that matter)?  Hardly.  If not then the only thing that's been injured is your sense of self righteousness.

Lots of people have dashcams and capture idiots doing all sorts of things they shouldn't but reporting them is the thin end of the wedge.  It's inevitable we will end up with anally retentive drivers with dash cams reporting every minor transgression they see.  Some will be deliberate but a lot will be accidental or thoughtless, but lets face it, we all make errors of one sort or another when driving which means we are all potentially liable to being reported by some following driver with a dash cam.

:yeahthat: Sorry but TBH I would go as far as to say it was a bit sad and nothing but a waste of yours and their time. Seriously what are they going to do with that 'evidence'? At the most they may humor you by praising your vigilantism and say that they'll follow it up with the registered keeper (who may or may not have been the driver) before using up even more man hours filing the report under insurmountable. In the original quality footage of my recent near prang here you could pause the video and clearly ID the woman's face staring in shock out the window. This may or may not have been enough for the Police to want a few words with her for careless driving but I couldn't really care either way. At the end of the day yes mistakes and / or purposeful stupid actions where made but since no one was really adversely affected I am happy just to move along. Life's to short to worry about idiots, sh*t happens get over it.

oblomov/dab of oppo - I can understand both of your viewpoints and I'd thought about what I should do and decided that I should do the 'right' thing. If the police deem it to be a waste of their time then so be it, but at the moment they don't seem to think that. If it was one red light it could have just been an oversight by the driver, but two in succession is taking the p*ss in my humble opinion. siztenboots - mine's a 1080 HD camera hardwired to the ignition, identical to this one http://www.ebay.co.u...=item3ce3788ff6

That was some crash. Like the way the other cars stopped and helped.

Is this really a hard thing to find?  Im looking to do a dash cam install this weekend, trying to do all my prior reading before starting.  Looking at the fuse list to find a swicthed live, wouldnt something like position 4 (wiper motor) do the trick?

yeah the fuse box is the only real place you will find a switched live. And even then good luck

Dashcam update. I Don't buy the Droid recommended by Techmoan. I The vibration issue with the magnetic mount hasn't been solved. I It's bad in an ordinary car on anything but the smoothest roads and even worse in the vx220. I Mine doesn't list the captured files consecutively, which is a real pain and the sound doesn't sync properly with the action (about 3 seconds delay).

On the subject of reporting things, I had a guy (to§§er) recorded on my DC threatening to 'drag me out of the ferking car' last week when I was talking to a woman about her hitting my wing mirror. Couldn't handle being told to 'mind his own business' apparently. I could have reported him with the evidence, but chose not to, although it was a close run decision.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm still decided what to buy. First I need to read some reviews here-- dashcamtalk.com/forum/.
