Who the fcuk still uses parralell ports? I've got this one and it works great. One thing don't touch the dodgy cracked software that they all come bundled with as invariably it'll include a complimentary Trojan.

That doesn't look like the Tech2's that I've seen in use at Vauxhall dealerships

It's a chinese ripoff of course, with firmware from the real tech2 either converted to software, or crammed in that little plastic box.

Or it's a complete fake, and an obdreader in disguise.

Yeah I realise that I only took a very quick glance at your link and missed the fact it wasn't just one of the many Opcom jobbie ones available. I doubt it's much cop but if you want to take the risk of it having dodgy implementation and it (possibly?) bricking your ECU try it. You can then report back and give us all a run down on how good or not it is.

I've got a "TECH-2" interface which came with some form of TECH2 software (written by some Hungarian guy) and I've never one been able to get it to work or connect to anything in the car. Piece of sh!t.

OP-COM has always worked a treat, false positives on a Trojan, or not.

Can you post a screenshot of your opcom gui?

(i have some hungarian stuff on the laptop that never worked. Always thought it was opcom software, not tech II)

Errrrr the op linked product uses an rs232 serial port, not a parallel port. Uart is the mainstay for communicating with old chipsets and old protocols but hey let's not get hung up on that

Where did you get yours from and what does it say under 'about the program'? I take it yours must be newer than the one I have as mine which came from here looks the same but simply says OPCOM at the top whereas yours is version number 100219 from August 2010? I know updates will bring nothing new to the table anyway when solely used for the VX I'm just interested to know how current a version can be acquired / is supported by the Hungarian package.

OK so what Smiley linked to above for some reason was not what I actually ended up viewing last night. Was on my phone and it defaulted to the crappy eBay app when I clicked on the link which it then struggled to load properly. Pissing about trying to get it to work with my ham-fistedness I think I must of inadvertently tapped on a 'related item' link or something and got the wrong end of the stick when presented with a low res thumbnail image that looked something like thisMy mistake.

You'll probably just think that is an attempt to save face, but whatever I do know the difference between the two completely different connections. :)

I just got my opcom device in, and it works like a charm.

Turns out i've been trying to use a "tech2" blue cable device via the opcom software Posted Image

The black opcom device connected instantly.
