Hoping to have a go at fitting my new Quantums this afternoon, so can someone please tell me the torque setting for the damper bolts? Also, I know wishbone bushes need to be torqued up under load, but the new dampers have metal inserts rather than rubber bushes, so is it OK to torque these up while the car is jacked up? Many thanks.

http://www.speedster...s - Group E.pdf Aftermarket style bushes are fine to be torqued up whilst the car is in the air and at full droop, if you want.

Let us know how you get on with them (and whether you went for progressive or fixed springs).

I opted for linear road springs, and Eliseparts supplied 250/325 springs. A search of spring rates revealed that these are same spec as Lotus Sport springs that were fitted to the Elise at one time. My one or two track days a year do not warrant a stiff set-up, and the roads round here have not improved any with the constant rain! Taking off old dampers, even though they'd been there 12 years, was straightforward. Only issue I had fitting the new dampers was that on the front offside the body of the damper just fouled the mounting bracket (the one that the ABS module mounts on, I think), so a little "adjustment" was needed. The 2.5lb hammer worked fine here. It took me longer to carefully silicone grease all the damper bushes and O rings than to fit them! Sad I know..... Ride heights are a bit odd. Measured at each end of chassis before was 140 front and 128 rear (yes, I measured it twice) and after I have 120 front and 122 rear, so geometry has probably altered quite a bit, I assume. I am not too worried at the moment as I have a set of 16/17" Compomotives ready to go on, and intend to fit those and drive it over to BOT for setting up (and not drive it too much beforehand). A brief drive to check gave me the impression that the Quantums are indeed less crashy than (12 year old) Bilsteins, but until it's all set up I can't offer much more opinion. I bought the little tool to adjust the spring seat; do you adjust the ride height with the wheels off and the car jacked up, or do you have to take the dampers off? Excuse my ignorance on this point:)
