Thought there was someone else on the who rebuilt a cat b and never did get it road legal Seem to understand if its classed cat b its break for spares only and can't be used in the road so chassis is scrap if that's the case or track only Cat A - The Car should be scrapped and no parts can be taken from it. Cat B - The Car should be scrapped but certain parts can be taken from it. Cat C&D - These are normally used for non economical repairs. I.E Not dangerous to drive but the insurance company doesn't want to shell out repairing them.Cat b Dosent that mean it can never be road legal as the vin is recorded at the dvla as scrap

Alot of cat b motorcycle frames end up being track bikes and I'm sure its the same for a car, cant go back on the road. there maybe some appeal process or something but im sure they are more or less scrap

If you retain the vehicle you can put it back on the road, if the insurance company take it you can't. Not sure you could get insurance on a previous cat a/b though.

Not sure about that But as this is for sale I was just giving potential buyers the heads up that this can't be reoaired and registered for road use as a cat c or d can Didn't want someone to purchase it repair it then find its just furniture 😃If you retain the vehicle you can put it back on the road, if the insurance company take it you can't. Not sure you could get insurance on a previous cat a/b though.

Rub a dub tub (or was it dub again?) Had a cat b and c chassis and rebuilt on the cat c. Struggled with insurance for some reason iirc...
