When I bought my VX in May 2012 I did all the Newbie things that experienced forum members warn against.  I bought a 'cheap' NA with ropey bodywork and an insufficiently explained Cat D status.  I didn't care, I wanted my VX and I didn't want to wait until I could afford a better one.  Happily, I still don't care - I love my car!  Yes, I've now spent way more on it than I would have done if I'd waited and bought a sorted one, but this way I got to sort it myself and that means I got to paint it purple! :wub:

I was going to write a long post about the work I had done, how I decided upon the colour, how I felt before/during/after the work, but I know you're only interested in the pictures :D

So, with much thanks to Ash at Relentless Performance, who is a man who knows his GRP and a true perfectionist.

Before (OK at 10 yards, just don't look too close!):

Doors, which were suffering from all kinds of paint issues (blisters, microblisters, poor prep from prior respray):

Paint - House of Kolor Lake Violet:

It took 11 coats:

And finished (no, my windscreen is not smashed!):

Love these :wub::

I'm so pleased with the finish but it's impossible to photograph!  Blue in normal light and Cadbury's purple in sunlight - it came out so much better than I could've hoped.

Relentless have been great and I'd happily recommend their services.

I can't wait for summer now!

What do the louvres actually do?

Take the pressure out of the wheelarch area at high speed.

If you don´t puncture the plastic wheelarch itself, it´s just cosmetically.

aha ok, black would look good I think, better than the stock colour.. would not mind if mine was in black but I think it's ok with body colured too.

Looked really good at the Essex meet at the weekend. The colour really suits the vx shape - excellent choice!

Thanks everyone :) I was planning on wrapping the surround in matt black, but haven't decided whether to try it myself. The rest of the car is so perfect that the slightest bubble/fold in the wrap will annoy the hell out of me.
