I am after a set of hub studs and nuts for my VX any recommendations suppliers etc . Seen the Eliese parts sets ,I am looking for a few options.

I can recommend you do not use Grayston Engineering studs - they are also sometimes rebranded so be wary.

 

The threads are really soft and very easy to cross thread, plus have seen them stretch under hard use.

 

Had them on a rally car and had to remove them mid-event due to threads failing.

He wants a stud conversion, not to replace the bolts. I'll see if I can find the receipt for the company that supplied mine, Kieran. Look almost identical to Geary's kit but a bit (not that much) cheaper.

Fix the spacer to the hub with two very small spots of sikaflex or silicone. thats what we do. Even a couple of dabs of grease will hold it in place

The spacer sits on fine it's trying to get the wheel to line up while holding it with one hand and using the other to get the bolt through.

How thicks the spacer?

Spacer is only 5mm so not big but it takes most of the bearing hub where it sits meaning the wheel only has a little gap to sit on. I'm more worried of the wheel falling off when I'm trying to bolt it and it hits of the wishbones/ballpoints and chips the paint.

I've tried studs and they come undone, even when welded in the welds would break. Changed back to bolts.

I have a stud kit from es motor sport , Studs held into the hubs with stud lock, Ive had no problems they are torqued up to 100nm.

So were ours but, with all respect Kieran, it depends how hard you push the car.

I moved back to regular bolts after Croft last year, when I found two of the studs had come loose despite the "permanent" thread lock used when fitting. Did make life much easier with the non-secured AP brake bells on the front (rears have retaining screw) of the car that always go walkies when trying to refit wheels though.

Hmm, I was about to order some studs too, but after reading about them coming undone don't think I will.

I bought a stud kit in the end so will see how it goes, but so far it looks great and makes for taking the wheels on and off really easy.

Yea, let me know once you've driven it hard please. I too am fed up with lining up spacers and discs.
