hi all, Fitted new discs and pads a short while ago. Ever since I get a regular noise from which on inspection appears to be the brake pads. I have fitted drilled and grooved and the pads are mintex 1144s. I also get some squeal as well. Have I fitted wrong, can I do something about it? Thanks in advance.

If you didn't get any anti squeal rubber shims in the box with your new ones you should of bought some or re-used the existing ones from your old pads assuming they had some.

There should also be a clip between the pins to stop the rattle

Didn't get any. What do they look like? Didn't see anything rubber on the old ones. Cheers.

Eliese shop sells them ,They go between the pad and caliper. Use a brake cleaner to clear the dust after a couple of runs it will help

got the same problem, with the same discs and pads.  Fitted x1 set still had rattle, garage suggested they fit more.. got back after fitting now 3 sets of anti rattle buffer pads from elise shop and it has reduced noise, but i still get it after a while.  Only on the passenger side too.

Where have they fitted the buffer pads? Doesn't sound right if you are still getting noises.

yeh they fitted them to the instructions on the photo in link, its reduced the noise by a lot but i still get it after driving for 1/2 hour.  the guys at garage did say there was a lot of play in the passenger side pads

For some reason it's always the passenger side. My newly fitted RC6 are knocking and squeal like a stabbed pig when I pull up. It's so bad people look around and I've been pulling up with the hand brake.

If the 1144's are squealing, it's because they need a good ole hard use. Give it a re bed in process and they will be silent again. As for rattle, just put up with it as its a function of having higher heat capacity pads :-)

Could I just ask - when I follow the link it says "4 pads supplied for both front calipers on one vehicle"

Are they suitable for the back calipers as well if I order two sets?

Never experienced this with 1144's, in fact never experienced it ever.

However, recently had rs14's fitted and after driving down a particularly bumpy road today the there was an alarningly loud rattle from the front, another annoyance.

Sometimes some good old hard use can fix it, try some hard braking like you're bedding in pads, it's free and nothing to lose  :)
