Hi All,

I have been looking for one of these car for a long time and finally bought a VX 220 Turbo.

It's now tucked up in my garage while I replace all the discs, pads and cam belt and anything else that needs changing, for piece of mind.

Any advise, suggestions or improvements welcome.

thanks

Deano

I am trying to get the weight down to 800kgs or less, so I'm removing the aluminium floor which weighs 40kgs and replacing it with carbon panels. Any suggestions on weight reduction?

Not convinced on floor, I know carbon is strong but with a hard hit it shards apart, aluminum will just dent.

I had a quick look and failed to find the sill cover. Can you post a link up please.

so I'm removing the aluminium floor which weighs 40kgs and replacing it with carbon panels.

The floor weighs more like 4kg. All of the weight is in the pig iron engine option you've chosen and the bodywork.

Big project aiming for sub 800.

There was a chap a long time ago that went very far with the whole weight savings, have a search on here.

I've heard filling the tyres with helium offsets the weight of heavy air!  Also attaching a few baloons full of helium to the roof is I admit a tad extreme, but physics do state -  couteract gravity and the object is inevitably lighter.

It is a fine balance between having a super light motor and flying away though!

The last thing I would have thought would be to cut out the paper thin aluminium floor and replace it with CF. Really can't see how you could save much more than about 1kg. I would also personally never buy a VX where the tub had been cut / bent / etc.
