Right here goes, another DIY SC conversion. First, a few thanks: Tom. Thanks for driving an hour to meet me to drop a sc kit, it. Really is very clean. Joe. Thanks for doing me a great deal (more than I expected) on the cc and tank. If any one needs either of these parts, I'd highly recommend joe as you will make a saving and help out a forum member (you may even get a little extra off if you're any good at rock, scissors, paper!! Dave. Thanks for the dual pass mod and top class repair job you did at a very good price. His welding skills are second to none. Thanks to everyone that has answered my questions via pm. I did consider joe and lee to do the whole conversion for me, but I really wanted a project for myself, to understand how it all works and goes together. Do I have the spannering skills required? Probably not, but it's something I want to give a go, so please excuse what will more than likely be some rather numpty questions, but hopefully with a bit of help from you guys I am hoping to be able to complete this myself. I'm going for a stage 2 sc, with blue injectors (to take into account any future up grades) and Dutch software. I have 99% of parts now so will be starting this very soon. I have printed off virtually every image and guide I can find, but know I will have more questions very very soon so please bare with me. I'll be adding pics etc. purely for prosperity, but may also come in useful for someone else. First trick I worked out was when removing the laminovas. For the. Open ones, I jammed a used cork down the middle and reattached the corkscrew and pulled. Hey presto. First question The laminovas are now soaking in white spirit. The actual inlet is a little greasy/mucky inside. How do people go about cleaning this? Will I do any harm soaking this in a bucket of which the spirit? It still has the tmap sensor attached which. I will remove first as I will be re-using this. Thanks Chris

Now everything is clean and shiny, I'm about to put it back together.

Can someone confirm that I have these the right way around:

Also, is there anything I should consider/do before I put them back and bolt everything down?

Correct for the dual pass, only the orientation of your cores is a bit off. Try to allign the bigger slots of the cores with the air in /out gaps in the manifold...

When you referto the bigger slots in the cores, are you referring to the first or second image:

Ah I see now. So bigger slots:

Line these up with the inlet and outlet within each chamber of the manifold?

Yes thumbsup

Laminova spec the same installation orientation when used in their oil/water heat exchangers so the wide 'channels' are used as the in- and outlet sides.

The idea is that the wide slot is used to channel the air towards the fins where it will result in a laminar flow between the the fins (and trapped between the core and the housing) to the other side (least resistance) and exit out the other side again.

Bye, Arno.

Looking for plugs and boots to suit the LEH injectors I have.

Courtney sell these: http://www.courtenay...c/prod_812.html

Also found these: http://www.ebay.co.u...=item2a2856a54a

Are either or both of these correct?

Cheers

Both are correct, however standard JPT connectors may need trimming down to fit while the Courtney ones will fit out of the box. You will also need a 5th one if you intend to run a Bosch charge cooler pump (other brands may use different connectors)

Thanks Tom. Ended up ordering from Courtney anyway.

Yes I am using a Bosch, didn't realise I needed one for this. Will have to see if i can get a random single set from ebay.

Thanks

Chris

Ordered a Contitech belt and have had a Dayco belt delivered.

Is there much difference between the two makes i.e should i just stick with the Dayco belt, or send it back and ask for the Contitech belt?

Thanks.

So guess I'll just see how the Dayco belt goes.

Haven't seen these mentioned too much, so wasn't sure if they were as much use as an elastic band

I think must only have issues with belts if something is seriously out of line
