Hey all,

Seen a couple of threads about garages going through peoples sills and I'm also sick of explaining to anyone new in my car that they can't stand on the sill or pull on the screen surround when getting in. A mate of mine has the equipment to make vinyl's so I asked him to make me a couple up and they arrived tonight. Here are the results.

If you want a set, I can get you a pair made for £15 delivered (Includes P&P). For simplicity, I'd like to stick to either Metallic silver (as pictured) or Gloss Black. However, he can do any colour if you really want for no additional cost.

Now they're fitted, they may be a little on the large side. They're approximately 75mm (3") high and 450mm long. If you want, we could also do them at 2" high. I guess the length will reduce to about 300mm to keep scale.

It's easier to make these in batches so I'll be collecting the first list of names during May and handing them over at the end of the month. Delivery will then take approximately 2 weeks from there. Should you be as paranoid as me, please add your name to a glorious new .org list below and send me a PM entitled 'Sill savers (username).' e.g. 'Sill savers Cressey.' This will just make it a bit easier for me to manage.

In your PM, Please specify the following details.

Size: 2 inch or 3 inch high

Colour: Silver, Black or Other (please specify exactly what colour/finish)

Your name and postal address.

Payment is through Paypal only and details will be PM'd to you once I receive your order. Payment must be received by the month end if you wish to receive them in that batch.

I'm afraid I cannot vouch for the durability or the longevity of these as I only fitted mine tonight but they look like good quality and he has done many performance vehicles in the past.

I've taken pictures during installation and have picked up a few tips so will write an Installation guide if there's much interest. They're quite easy really..

Hope I'm not doing anything illegal here as I'm not a premium member currently. Please let me know if I need to be and I'll pay up. Also happy for this to be moved if I've stuck it in the wrong section.

Please note. I will be away from 8th May until 24th May so don't panic if my responses to your PM's are slow.

Let the list commence.

Did you want it to be exactly like this? I may be able to get it made but would probably be a little more expensive.

If mass produced they are fine.

If you want a small batch custom made, they become expensive because of all the colors. :(

No that's okay. Doesn't look like I'll be getting the response I'd hoped for anyway. Surprising really as sills are very difficult/expensive to repair and I don't think these look too bad.

May be a bit more expensive than mass produced it wouldn't be worth it for anything less really. If theres a decent number of orders, he could probably do them for £10 delivered. Can't complain at that really. That'll leave you with the fiver you need to run the VX.

I'll see what happens Smiley and can enquire about this one if you want them. I know he can layer up to 3 colours so don't see why it wouldn't be possible.

Why would you use the sill as a step? I know some people get overwhelmed by getting in, but I don't think anyone has ended up on the roof yet

Indeed, why would someone step on the sill..........like a friend of mine did last year in my car. 4 inch crack, just couldn't fathom why on earth he'd done that, but he did :(

I know you have gone to effort here and looks reasonable but looks nice without. No one borrows my car and people who are new to it I show them how to get in and tell them where to put and not put their weight..
