Anyone got a refurb guide on the steering rack. I'm tempted to have ago myself?

Cheers Tom. Sounds harder then I thought. Might send it off for a refurb.

It's not that difficult really, just a case of drilling out a lock nut, undoing the nut and replacing the cup under it. Worth getting the brass cups from Seriously Lotus as they wear a bit better (and don't crack!)

It isn't that bad a job. I did mine in a morning, including getting the rack in and out.

I did take it out and put it back only, that was OK (2 evenings with some music in the garage...) However I took it to a PRO for refurbishment (still it is about steering the car...)

Is titan still selling refurb parts?

I got this answer from elise shop: My experience is the refurbs don't work as the rack bushes wear out as well and they can't be replaced.

Any thoughts?

I refurbed mine with brass bushes and also re-greased the rack and pinion at the same time, was an easy enough job just make sure the lock nuts finish in the same place or you will be adding / reducing toe. Also use some grinding paste to 'wear in' the new bushes.

If you are going to regrease the R&P you will need a massive spanner, I have the right one if you want to borrow it and I also have some spare grinding paste.

Where did you buy the brass bushes? And what grease did you use? :)

Can't seem to get in touch with either Titan or Seriouslylotus. Anybody else selling these parts?

there is the small problem of the minimum order value with Titan, it might make sense to have a group buy of all the bits and make up kits to send out.

Can you please advice me how to take out the pinion part? I have removed the circlip, but the rest seems stuck in there... The guide says: " use your vice and suitable sockets to press it out of the rack body.", but I don't understand how.

I didn't take the pinion out just opened it up so I could see the R&P interface and packed it with grease while rolling it left and right to get in into all the teeth. The only reason to press the pinion out is if you plan to replace it.
