Hi Everyone

As it says in the title I'm wondering if its possible to get an N/A under 800kg and what parts/modifications it would take?

Also does anyone know the weight of the Z22SE and Box?

Thanks Scott

Hello! Mine is reduced 820kg now and theres more that can be done. 1) wheels, originals are very heavy, go for some light weight variant, I have 15" front and 16" at back. 2) aftermarket exhaust system, will reduce weight 3) race battery eg odyssey 680 4) light weight flywheel 5) balance shaft removal 6) light weight aluminium fuel tank 7) stereo delete 8) fog light delete 9) headrest delete 10) egr delete, light weight alternator and other small fixes This would take you below 800kg

If you require a roll cage I'd say you'd be hard up to drop it below 800kg

With most of what you intend and a balancer delete, doors cut out, door beams cut out, single seat, no headlights, no interior apart from dashtop, rear clam floor cut out and with the addition of a cage and fire extinguisher system our car is at 850kg no driver, no fuel. Dont ask me how much the cage weighs

We've got Lexan side windows and rear windows but dont know the weight difference. I would estimate around 4 - 5kg. Just checked and Safety Devices say the cage is 38kg

one other thing that I'm going to look at is making carbon doors as have a lot of experience in making composite parts, just depends whether the calculated weight difference is worth it and a cage will be going in at some point. Also a lightweight rear clam would be nice I think someone already makes them?

So without the cage ours would be around 812kg. getting that last 12kg out would be hard. I guess I would start with unsprung weight and change the TD's for Oz. I wouldnt put a poly front screen in.

The TD's aren't final might end up going with something different and would never go with a poly windscreen, is the cage you're using made from T45?

Lots of grief making CF doors when you can just cut the originals down and take out the int door handles and put a cable in to get the weight down. Also if you're going to race it and someone whacks your CF doors it'll spoil your week!!!

doors weigh nothing, now you've got the cage in the best thing to do is remove the aluminium bar inside the door.

Thats a bit of an exaggeration to balance the overall weight loss total out

its amazing how heavy the vx220 is compared to the s1 elise when they share a very similar ali tub, the NA engine is ali so its not like your carrying around a boat anchor in the back.

When you can get a s1 with a cage down to 630kg it just shows the difference(simonp, supercharged s1 with a cage is 640kg so lose about 10kg if you went to NA) you can save weight on the rear brakes

850kg vs 630kg, both with a cage, be interesting to see how they compare on track.
