Is it worth popping one of these on to keep the weather out or is it a waste of money and not necessary

Waste of time. They don't cover anything that's vulnerable to water. Pure, useless, bling.

thanks for that. not into bling so its a no no.

Does water cause a problem at all . so far its been ok with mine? Saying that we haven't had a real down pour for ages

Less so on the 2.2 than the turbo but some people find the 2.2 coilpack is just as vulnerable to water as the turbo's coilpack and fit the turbo's water ingress shield to the underside of the boot lid, to deflect any rain water. Can't say I've ever had an issue in mega heavy rain (especially French rain :angry: ) or from lobbing buckets of water at the car. YMMV.

I fit a 2.2 vectra petrol plastic engine cover in the winter keeps water out of the plugs You have to cut the end down a bit as it dosent fit under the clam but does the job http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251536696329

Another option that a few people have modified slightly to suit is the larger silver and black lift off plastic cover from the Vectra(?) Less bling and probably more functional with it covering a larger area. Edit: beaten to it, as above.
