Need a replacement short shaft.  New preferred.

J&R CV Joints offer one at £75, which seems too cheap to trust

or ebay sellers offer a 'Shaftec' shaft for £181(which still seems cheap)

Any knowledge or words of wisdom?

I have been running an astra (H mark 5) shaft for 2 years now.

(this trick only applies to the short one)

Compliant:

Astra H 1.7 cdti  mark 5 100bhp

1.3 CDTI Z13DTH 1.7 CDTI Z17DTH, Z17DTR

Make sure to get it incl the large locking nut, as that one differs from the vx shaft.

Ordered OE from Autovaux, £290 + VAT.  I've lost too much time and money on this bastard to risk more.

J&R joints don't have a good rep on the web, they must be Chinese at that price and not worth the risk.  Thanks for the comments on the Shaftec variety, if I'm in for £180 I'll go all the way and have one that should last another 100K miles.

I would like to match up the Astra shaft, but I don't want one that's covered 100K, even at £20
