okay so ive never really done this before but what the hell here goes.

i bought my vx220 february of this year(off of MWS forum member), i love it, needs a little tlc here and there so i thought i would start my own little project. It probably wont be as elaborate as the other nor update as often but i'd like to share what work i am doing on my car

here's the car when i bought it;

so from february to march the car was stationary, with me only being 18 with 1 YNC insurance was sky high reaching around £7500

so i started driving the car on the march 17, march 23 i joined up with quite a few other forum members for my first peaks meet, alot of good people here! some nutters to, i must admit i've never experienced driving a car like i did that day.

Posted Image

now here come some troubles i've had;

i had the car wrapped white and my hardtop came off on a bypass not a fun experience;

Posted Image

i woke up on morning to realize my spoiler had a huge crack/split down the centre of it

Posted Image

it failed an mot on the abs, luckily it was a corroded wire, easily sorted that one PHEW!

someone kindly did this, and left without notice; B@$%^&!s;

Great job there. I hope you enjoyed the cramped space in the footwell cleaning etc. continue cleaning it....it becomes addictive!

 oh it was great fun! Being 6'2 and around 17st really didn't help me out! Think I found a type of cleaning I actually enjoy! Won't let the mrs know that though!

Loving those seats dude

 cheers judder they were retrimed by dave the trimmer before my ownership, he's well known on here

What's that silver foil stuff on the floor?

 I think it's a type if insulation maybe? It was there when I took the seats out so it's staying there haha

I'll be sure to check your out! I ended up with a bit of money, 2 CDs and 2 bottles of after shave! Making money back from a vx? Joking I already spent it on more cleaning stuff :)

A tip to prevent future crap under the seats , and the noise that comes with them is some plastic foam sheet under them, while the seats are out.

The stuff under the seats is butyl based sound insulation. It's really heavy. Worse still it traps moisture and will cause the floors to rot - Lotus had this problem on the S1 elise. I would strongly suggest you take it out.

So I got a good 45mins this afternoon to have a quick look at the engine bay, or the cam cover to be exact.

Posted Image

I don't think the pictures really do the justice

Posted Image

So I bought myself some autoglym engine cleaner.

Posted Image

Half way through?

And I did have to rush it but kinda happy how it came out need a little more tlc.

More to come :)

That foam stuff under the seats is also sound insulation for when things drop down under the seats. May well do that myself, not too interested in the thermal side of things.

I really don't in the purpose but fezzasus said, it could be potentially dangerous, could be taking my out to replace with something else?
