So - been a while since i posted, and don't post all that often as i don't use the car all that often. I appreciate this isn't the best of for sale ads, but really its more of a feeler/WIW to see if there is interest and try and understand what its actually worth.

I'm not overly sure on its value as the miles are a little higher than most out there, though the engine runs great and there are no problems with clutch or gearbox and it drives without issue. Here are the details i can recall off the top of my head.

2001/Y Reg

Mileage 110k

Has fresh plugs, filter, pads all round, Bridgestones rear and Goodyear front tyres all with plenty of life.

Drives straight and true, all ball joints and engine mounts were done so no wobbles or tramlining.

Has mot til around Apr/May 2015

Tax cant remember probably a month or two left.

History - will have to report back but should more or less have full service history (non-dealer), though not much recently as its probably covered less than 5k miles in the past 3 years. Car was previously my dads who left it to me when he moved to Cyprus 3 years ago. Don't recall the number of owners but wont be more than 3/4 including my name now on the log book.

Has fresh carpets inside

Recently had suspension changed for those out a 35k miler

Had a new rear drivers CV boot.

Basically everything works as it should.

Replacement Sony speakers

Paint is generally ok

The bad bits...

The water pump seems to be leaking so the car is loosing coolant.

Has EML on - it comes and goes and doesn't affect the running of the car so most likely is a sensor playing up. Car past its last MOT as fortunately the light was out at the time but came back on recently.

The drivers seat is worn on the bolster through to the seat frame

There are some bubbles in the paint on the pax door and around rear lights

Odd scuff to the wheels, but generally ok

Has generic sony head unit as the Clarion one stopped flipping down

It leaks a little when it rains, but what VX doesn't

The heater only works on full cold, great for the winter months.

Needs a new windscreen wiper

In regards to the coolant leak i appreciate this could be off putting. I have been quoted around £350 by guglielmi + parts so would be happy to agree on repairing it if the right price was achieved plus have it given the once over.

I would be aiming for £5500 with repaired coolant leak.

Or as it stands around £5000.

I have been offered £4K trade in from a dealer so given this is a private sale i would hope to get a little more, though any feedback on price is welcomed. I guess given the mileage it may make a better track car base, or with not too much money it could easily be put back to full health and looking clean.

Reason for sale is i want to get myself into a Z4 M Coupe as they seem a bit more user friendly, not to mention a sound investment.

Look forward to feedback.

If a dealer offered that then it's high they usually offer less according to book values . How fast is coolant being lost?

So what's book value? That offer was on the basis of a part exchange on a £16k car so i expect the dealer is taking some risk.

Regarding the coolant - Well on the last outing i went to the post office 3 miles from work, got back to the car and it was ALL on the floor. Filled it up with bottled water to get me back to work 3 miles and it didn't leak at all. So drove it home around 17 miles and didn't drain completely but was dripping. Am guessing it could be something to do with thermostat needing to be open for it to leak perhaps... Either way i have no definitive answer to your question but here is a thread i started on the issue.

Well if your getting a 16k car that's why lol They'll just put it through an auction probably then Trade is less than that as they don't assess Vx properly

Makes me feel like I sold my old vx too cheap, shame I didn't see this sooner, might have made you an offer!! Wonder if my Mini cooper s will be fun haha. I did a similar change from a VX to a 3.0 Z4, Z4 is wonderful, all the creature comforts are great and its good fun to drive, nice low down grunt, gutted I had to sell due to petrol costs.

Updated with some extra details and some pics.

Here are a few pictures of the VX220. Apologies they are only on the iphone and not of the best quality. I also have a folder of receipts etc to show its history. Also please bear in mind it hasn't been cleaned for a while, but at least you get to see it how it is.

I forgot to mention this bit originally, but don't want to hide anything. Basically the inner arch (pax rear) where the liner bolts up has cracked slightly and this was a temporary repair. A fibre glass shop, or if you are reasonably DIY handy, could have it repaired quite easily.

The bubbling on the pax door, again easily repairable.

I also forgot to say that the door cards have been covered in real Alcantara. Its not a great job, but its better than the old trim that was in there.

Also the driver inner kick panel has cracked slightly at the rear from people getting in and out clumsily. Again just trying to show everything i can. This is nothing major and i just covered it with a bit of carbon look wrap. Its hardly noticeable when in the car or when the door is shut. Its not the sill itself just the plastic protector on the inside. Also the keen eyed of you will notice the larger door strike pins to get rid of annoying rattles.

And the drivers seat.

It is due an oil change which if the right price is agreed i am happy to have done along with the coolant leak. Aside from the coolant leak there are no other fluid leaks on the car and it runs and drives great. Its had one previous owner, though the log book says 2 as i had it changed into my name when my dad moved abroad. It has been in our family since 11/08/2002, so 12 years now! I have the original sale from Vauxhall Worcester which shows we bought it for £17,500 with 6018 miles on the clock.

Feel free to ask away with any questions.

Just thought i should update this to say the MOT has just run out on 28th Aug. I honestly though it was longer than that. I will be happy to either get it MOT'd if i fix the coolant leak, or if sold as is i will still have it MOT'd, assuming it will fail for the coolant leak, and provide the fail sheet which should show no other issues so the new owner could fix the leak and re MOT without issue.

(I think these cars are too cheap in general)

BUT I don't think you will get the price your looking for without an MOT.

Fix the bits that need fixing, get a year ticket on it ask a mod to remove this add and make a new add. Will sell much easier. (stop being lazy hahahahaha)

all IMO :P
