I have trawled through previous question relating to this problem but cant get lights to work

someone put a sticky up on fuses , with a test light I have no feed either side of fuses 16 and 17 which are 5amp fuses for side lights , surely they should have power regardless of key in ignition as they should be able to be left on while car is locked up , is this likely to be the cause of my light fault ?

seems a few amongst you have had this problem occur , wonder if any one knows the fix

Found the problem , with thanks to a past reply to a topic from Rusty 789  who posted up a wiring diagram speedster/vx220 lighting circuit .

fault - no side lights  dip beam , after checking fuses started probing around

switches inside the car illuminates , so you know were they are in the dark

removed r/h fascia plate and removed switch panel , started by swopping side light and head light switch ( not working )

looked at wiring diagram checked out fuses 16 and 17 all good

looked at diagram again started car and checked cigar lighter ( ok ) fed by fuse 17

back to diagram found fuse 7 feeds a green wire at light switch S4 ( I know this is ok due to switch illumination working )

back to wiring diagram found fuse 19 feeds a brown and blue striped wire to give a feed at the light switch S4 checked fuse ok

another look at the diagram another look at the car found a small amount of green corrosion dust around the fuse box

removed fuse 19 and wiggled the wiring directly under the fuse to find only 1 fuse holder connector was moving , carefully tugged at the wires to find the brown and blue striped wire to be broken off and corroded , obviously wire is to short to bridge to the feed wire at fuse19

so I used a short piece of wire to test  and BINGO all the lights are working properly again

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

lesson here is praise thanks to this forum for just knowing everything , and checking fuses doesn't mean all is ok , because I had a feed both sides of the fuse , it was directly after the fuse I found the break in the circuit ( lucky really it could have been anywhere in the loom ) .

Mr Gumball is hereby appointed my dotorg hero of the week.

Driving home tonight, hit a small bump, all the lights go out.  Fortunately I was nearly home.

Mine was a small brown wire to the base of fuse 19.  Had to rip the fusebox out of the arch to pin it down, but there it was.   Had corroded until it broke away from the fusebox.

Another problem that would have taken an age to cure without this goldmine of information. :grouphug:
