Hello would really appreciate some help

So VX220 ownership is now the second most stressful thing I think I have done !!!

Day 3 and already in the same situation as some of the membership would recognise, but maybe with a slight twist.

Pick up car Monday great start (have owned several other toys and VX220 so good). Came up the Motorway to my exit complete loss of power.

Pulled over onto hard shoulder still had engine run and was able to limp up the exit ramp no engine management lights on

Got car home read threads and have done the following

Took out what I thought was fuse 8 and reset the engine management unit. (but did not know which was fuse 8 so counted 8 from the left on both fuse rails and removed them both.

Replaced and started car and low and behold throttle response was back.

Shut down can and re-started no throttle again and hazard lights keep blinking. Pinged the key fob and eventually they went off. Took out fuses again and replaced and hazards came on car starts but they continue to flash no throttle response.

Took off the pedal connector and cleaned

Took of the ECU connectors and cleaned and

Took of the 2 connectors that are difficult to get hold of behind the overflow water bottle

Still no throttle response, came in here to write help request and to calm down for a moment.

Can anyone assist please, the hazards lights are on as soon as I turn the engine over and the throttle response is zero.

Many thanks

really has all the classic hallmarks of the loom of doom , especially as the throttle pedals works for a short period after being reset , before the ecu failsafe triggers.

Where is the fuel switch please?

The hazard lights are now on permanently? They then go off and restart as soon as I open the door or when I start the car?

Might be two different issues and not connected. The limp mode definitely sounds like the loom of doom problem, though it usually creates an error code or two. As for the hazards. Is your alarm going off silently? I spent the first couple of months of ownership driving around with the alarm flashing the hazards but not making any noise as one of the wires to the siren had corroded.

If you have only had it 3 days......can't you speak to whoever you got it off and see if they know anything? I take it when you bought it it was fine?

I mention fuel switch because you had already tried electrical cleaner on loom terminals
It's located, from rear of car in engine bay left hand side rear close to boot
Looks like a black square thing with a round button ( I think )

Seen here bottom centre

Many thanks I think you are right the hazards and a red herring.

No I have asked and they of course never had the problem......

Car starts and idles so I am not convinced it is fuel related I have taken off accelerator pedal and cleaned the bushes and circuit board inside. I will get my mate to check to see if there is current/resistance in the unit when I get his multi meter. AA chap who had a look said that the reading off the connector to the accelerator was 34% but that was all I got out of him

Car starts perfectly just no more revs???

Pull the alam fuse to cure the hazards issue
Sounds like the siren is knackered anyway ?

i had a similar problem recently, i cut out & re soldered the loom of doom (connections by expansion bottle) turned out to be a map sensor, do you have a code reader?

also check the most obvious, diconnect battery and clean up both terminals and cable connectors, sometimes an iffy battery/earth connection can cause all sorts of electrical gremlins.

Thanks all I don.t have a code reader yet but I now know that I need one and it is on the shopping list.

I will go back through all of the connectors and clean and look at them again and also disconnect and clean the battery terminals.
