In order to get the main wiring loom from the cabin to the rear of the car (through the hole in the pic), am I right in thinking I need to remove the fuel tank?

Yep, that's what I thought.....

I was gonna spend this afternoon hooking up the rear part of the loom, then I had an 'oh sh*t' moment and went back into the house sulking :(

I was going to do this originally. I wanted to make the front and rear sections plugable. However when I removed the loom wrap I counted 51 wires; many of them being the same colour. It's not really practical, and probably less work to just remove the fuel tank

remove gear cables from box, remove handbrake cable split pin and drop off the shear panel.

Then all you have to fight are the fuel hoses when you drop and refit the tank

Is the shear panel is just held on from the underside with the 8 or 9 8mm bolts?

I remember you telling me the loom was a piece of p*ss to replace .... :P
