Ah memories.....I had a black 1975 MKII Capri 3.0 litre S ( V6) with Max Power plus pistons, stage 3 racing cams , triple choke carburettors, lightened flywheel and crankshaft, skimmed and polished heads, lowered suspension and twin racing exhaust. It also had three kenlow racing fans and the fuel pump was the size of a vacuum flask. It had no fancy Ecu, just an electronic distributer,  At the front of the car were six Cibe spotlights in an inverted V shape It managed approx 10 miles to the gallon. It only had standard brakes (drums on the rear and discs on the front), so suffered terrible brake fade. It was very tail happy which was great in  the snow/rain/ice as it would drift around corners and traffic Islands. Last time I saw the car (many, many years ago)  was in Wolverhampton being driven by a West Indian male. The car had had a brown vinyl roof applied !!! and oversize rear wheels similar to the old F1 rears from the 1970's, again, very odd !!!!. As a 21yr old , I thought it was the bees knees.

Happy days  :-)

No speed cameras plus empty roads equals lots of sideways driving.

My old Lotus 7 Mk3 (which I had at 21) was the best car out of them all. I really miss that one. I missed it so much I bought a Westfield SE for my 40th which I still have in the garage. The gartrac was an expensive car to own and every car in the area wanted a race.

Track days were not really an option back then, so you went for it on the open road.....tut-tut.

The roads are far to busy now to drive like I used to back then.

Yes , the roads are far busier now and wouldn't fancy driving the Capri as there was no power steering and the front tyres were something like 195/70 on 16" alloys. You needed arms like schwarzenegger to turn the wheel at slow speed/parking. Also, fuel was only about 70 pence a gallon , and was for 5 star (101 octane), which the Capri would only run on.
