My boy (8) got his new Xbox One for Christmas. We were out this morning. Set it up this afternoon and he cannot play any games, even offline, because our 'local connection is fine but we (microsoft) have some problems with our core' Ladies and gentlemen, i give you the full Oxford Dictionary definition of corporate cuntpuffins.

It's hackers, they've taken down both playstation and xbox networks.

I know it's hackers. But all the games rely on being able to access the core system. So if they're down the kiddies are screwed. Why, i wond£r? Dicks.

So can you not play either console without an internet connection? If not... What a joke.

That is ridiculous. Although I believe you only need to do it once at least (the first time the Xbox is set up), you can be offline any time in future

Yeah that's the case. They need to be connected the first time you set them up, but you can use them offline after that. They (same hackers who took Sony movies down) knew this and purposely targeted both networks for maximum disruption. You cant really blame MS or Sony, we live in an online world now, expect more of this until the flaws in the core of the internet are fixed (many many years)

Sounds about right. Kids weren't able to connect to PSN yesterday, but were able to play offline games fine.
