Got a bit of a Dilemma they don't seem as technical on the TVR forum so thought I would ask here :) Standard Factory sizes on 18" Rims are 225/35/18 Front and 235/40/18 I've currently got t1r's in 225/35/18 and 255/35/18 To get decent sticky tyres I.e ad08, r1r's, ku36 etc. The fronts are only available in 40 profile. Some peoples cars rub on a 40 profile but leaving that aside for a moment if I went with a 225/40/18 would this affect the handling as it would lift the car by about 10/11mm at the front with out lowering it? Thanks

Another factor is the rim width in deciding appropriate tyre sizes... thumbsup

Why do you think it will lift the car by 10mm? Theoretically 225/40/18 is near as damn it the same profile as 235/35/18 but circa 4mm lower than the standard 235/40/18 Also be aware that the shoulders of different tyre types are not the same so some may rub whereas others may not

I doubt there would be any noticable difference.

At the moment the Tamora has 10mm rake (measuring from chassis rail behind front wheel and in front of the back wheel) I.e the back of the car sits 10mm higher? So by fitting the 40 profile tyres to the front the rake will be 0 unless I rase the back which I don't really want to do. Maybe I'm looking into it to much? I find the Tam does feel a bit light at the rear (nature of a front engined rwd car?) so maybe this would have a positive effective having 0 rake with the 40" profile front tyres over the standard 30 profile?

I'm probably over thinking it all tbh. Might just order some fronts first in 40 profile. Thinking of getting ku36 as these are great on the Vx and there not expensive which is a bonus

The KU36 are ridiculously cheap and haven't come up on my radar yet. It'd be interesting to see how you fare with them.

I've had them on for about a year now and I'm really happy with them. Seem to grip well and there ok in the wet so il be sticking with these on the Vx. The only downside I can see they take a little bit of bedding in from new

No probs. I'm running bigger tyres on the Vx (215f and if I remember correctly 235r) on 16/17" speedlines

The other option is KU39? These are available in the correct size (35 profile)

Because the TVR will be a dry weather car only and I can afford to sacrifice wet grip for more dry grip

Pointless for just a road car but then that's up to you, Unless of course you are a complete hooligan 😎😎' But then again, if you like Khumos then you've not really exploited the grip levels available

Well I'm open to suggestions but it comes down to what's available in the correct size (which doesn't seem like many options) or chancing the bigger profile tyres The ku36 are a very good tyre for the price

i dont think its pointless when you have a high power rwd car, at least with a proper tyre you know your going to be safe using its power and not have to worry about fighting with it

For anyone interested, these are £56 each in 225/45 17 at promotyres. I'll let you know if they ever arrive!

If you don't track the car and drive in rain I wouldn't bother with those tyres. Michelin pilot supersports would probably do better for road use.
