Hi Everyone

The name is Karl, 25 nearly 26. Started motoring life with a 1989 old mini which I worked on a lot....did so much to it. In its final project I fitted a 1275cc to replace the 998cc but after a minor crash  in late Dec 2010 (damage repaired) I wanted more safety features owing to driving to uni back and forth every day. In Feb 2011 I jumped to a mazda RX8- I spent ages looking for the right engine (the dreaded hot compression issues) and I had the car up to april 2014 when my part time job couldn't fund the fuel bills and engine wear was starting to show. I got a new great full time job and I got a Vauxhall adam on a PCP.... I customised it so it has ALL the looks and a tonne of kit that my top spec RX8 didn't even have...however going from a 231bhp 6speed RX8 to a 1.2 start stop vauxhall adam.... I MISS the power and fun.

So here I am wondering about a fun/weekend car that has slightly better MPG than a RX8, convertible, not too many on road where I live and if fun.

Have I come to the right place?

If you want something pretty rare, something you can modify, not outrageously expensive and that will enlighten you on steering feel after the RX8...then yes you are in the right place.

Yeah, I have my eyes on a car which stands out.... http://www.lowtonmot...ncashire-568321

Non-turbo as I can't afford to stretch further but I am sure a 2.2 NA would be more than enough to keep me happy!

Opinions please on the above :-)

50,000 miles service history regular to 35k. Stops then has had another service at 50k by sellers. I always service my own project cars anyway....

Is 7k the top side of NA prices now? Or is there more information on the car I'm missing? OP, I'm sure you'll love the balance of the NA. Until you feel you want more power!!

Yeah I read buyers guide so know to search reg here as well as obviously the comprehensive list you guys have put together (good stuff!)

Doesn't say if CAT D or C write off. Assume you check this with a vehicle history check?

£7k seemed about right on autotrader but they all could be top side! I'd most likely be paying cash (If I can secure my loan from bank) so would hope to bring the price down a bit with negotiation.

Haven't got the number plate so will have to ask but they maybe cagey given the photos have their show plate fitted?

..walk away from a deal..dealer or private if they fail to provide any background info that is asked for...e.g. ask for all available paperwork..if its been well looked after they should have it all, especially last mots...

...and ask if they will give at least a 6 month warranty on all moving parts....

....I think this has been put together, i.e. the wheels dont match any silver, the windscreen surround is black..get the last owners name etc etc and we will help...there have been to many dealer / deals that have been bad.....

hopfully this one isnt..and get someone along from here to give it a good going over for a couple of beer tokens..

H...

I've done my own check as well via a friend with access to these portals

Car colour was changed Nov 2013

Never been scrapped or written off.

I'd say £7k is middle of the range for a non-CAT N/A these days.

Prices range from 7K to 11.5K for an N/A. This really is at the bottom end price wise so if you aren't too picky and don't mind bright green it could be a bit of a bargain.

Certainly worth a look any way.

I'd say £7k is the right money for this car, Bought myself an NA in December - paid a little less on a private sale. This car has been looking for a new home for a while and was at the higher price. Good luck!

Yeah, it was a bit heavy at £9k for this time of the year for an NA. £2k knocked off - trade, non-HPI. Sounds good, no?

..who did the colour change...and why???..non of the parts fit as stated before....ex silver, black wheels and black surround...I would want to know the background to the "project" before getting involved....

Best advice.... Go take a looksy with a forum member off here. Most will accept a Harrop as payment, or a Garrett if they are that way inclined. ;)

Is anyone based out that way as I  willing to have a look and I am now in the buyers market having secure monies with the bank to consolidate some other monies and a slush fund left for fun car!

Oh I thought beer tokens was the standard payment, not a turbo haha.
