I'm trying to find the engine model of a 2008/2009 Mitsubishi Lancer 2l Di-D.  My mate has an oil leak and we have no idea where it is coming from, searching good old Google is not useful when talking 'Lancers' as it comes up with evo's etc.....

How can I find the model of the engine?  I know it's a VW lump as it says in most of the reviews.

Any help is appreciated   thumbsup

Tried that and google brings up a grand total of 0 results.

Unless of course my friend is reading it wrong, I'm currently at work so can't go and look at the V5!

I've not got my VX v5c to hand, but I'd guess it has z22se before the engine number, so should ring true.

All sorted now, found the engine code and also sorted the oil leak!

Turns out the engine code is also on a sticker on the under side of the bonnet

 Well done.

In fairness to my mate who was looking it was dark! I was no where near the car when he was looking for it.

Good news is that the rocker cover gasket was fubar and nothing else, so a 50quid job to fix.
