I ordered a drivers side Corbeau Le Pro seat for the VX from a online retailer (leaving unnamed at the moment) and had the seat delivered this week.

The seat was delivered with the following marks near the mounting points - photos below:

I wasn't really happy with the marks and contacted the retailer.

The retailer is saying they have spoken with Corbeau directly and they have said that it is part of the mould and all seats are like this.

Can someone with the same seats confirm as I feel like I am being mugged off a bit here?

What does everyone else think? I know you won't really see the marks once mounted but still not satisfied after spending £400 on a new seat...

I had a pair of these seats from new and, yes, they were a bit rough around that area. Not exactly the same as yours so not a mould mark but prob finished off a bit roughly

Not sure it should be scratched. Looks like washer bolt might have been fitted at some point? That said, I'd probably live with it if the rest of the seat is fine.

Hmmm, sounds like Corbeau aren't as fussy as me then!  :glare:

I might mount it over the weekend and see if it fits ok and see if the marks are hidden by the mounts.

IMO the circle around the hole is likely to be a deliberate mark on the mould to locate where the hole should be drilled.  It's a fairly common practice for marking bolt locations.  The other marks appear to be moulding marks and scratches from the finishing.  Yes, you are right in that they shouldn't be there but most handlaid mouldings will have some marks.  If they really bother you and you don't get anywhere with the retailer you could CAREFULLY sand it back with wet 1200 grit and then polish it back up with something like G60.  If the marks are quite a bit below the surface you could clean them out, fill the marks with flowcoat and then sand / polish to get them perfect.

Whilst I appreciate that when you part with your hard earned you want things to be right please consider that a seat will take a mornings labour to lay up, an hour or two extra to trim and sand the edges, then materials, padding, fitting of padding etc Think about what value you'd put on your time to make them and I'd say 400 quid is very reasonable.

I'll be more interested in how well they fit, given the dubious history of fitting problems.....

Cheers - I will have a play over the weekend and see what they look like/fit like - I have a set of early Elise runners to help with fitting. (Fingers crossed).

Thanks - had a quick read of that already.

Subframes are slightly different as they used the double shear from a 340R but I have early S1 Elise runners.

I am going to offer it all up over the weekend and see how it looks - they are supposed to be direct bolt in for these runners but nothing is ever that easy!

I'll tell you for certain tomorrow, but I pretty sure (hope) they do.

Elise runners came in useful, needs some tinkering but look like they will fit ok. Fit under roll bar pads fine and look like they sit slightly lower.

Jinxy has already confirmed but yes they do - it was these shells used to create the VXR seats (and the exige s1 and 340r etc) rather than the later Motorsport shells that are found on s2 stuff and are often too tall for the Vx.

Thought so, this is why you ideally need the early Elise S1 runners if you want direct fit. (I assume VXR runners too, just a bit harder to source!) You can probably butcher and adapt the normal VX runners but I wanted to keep the option to return to original.
