Mine went at 168k. Took ages to diagnose but fairly simple job to replace. Recommend ECUs to go. They supply new or reconditioned along with immobilisers.

It's not common for them to fail, but I have heard of a couple failing.
I have my old one in a box (which deffo works) if you need one, however it has a non OEM map on it.

I bought one off here thinking mine was having a fit, turned out the loom was at fault, corrosion.
The seller (to me ) had also found it had not been the solution to the faults he had been experiencing.

You need to check the connectors and pins at the ECU as detailed in the manual/test procedure. Mine had security tabs on which needed to be drilled out before you could check these pins. That's why I struggled for ages (about 4 weeks over the Xmas period) checking everything else first including unravelling a lot of the wiring loom and checking all the relays and connectors etc.
Once I got access to the pins I found out that it was the ECU was at fault. Note I was not getting any feedback through OPCOM.
Got a new immobiliser and ECU from ECUs to Go and it took a couple hours to get it running. Checked with OPCOM all was OK.
