Hi

I've been looking for a while and missed out on the last one on here so will try and get in early.

Looking for a Vxr with under 50k miles and in very good condition. Don"t want and Cat C or D.

I'm based in Kent and expect to travel but Scotland is a bit far.

Anyone thinking of selling?

Cheers

Dave

There's one on Pistonheads classifieds just now, although I think it fails two of your requirements..

Thank GiGo. I'm sure it will be a long search but I need to step it up as the wife wants me to buy a Cayman.

The milage is ok for the one on PH but Scotland is just to far.

....... but Scotland is just to far.

...you dont want one very badly then.....and they only just get a hairdyer in the boot anyway whilst Caymans are ideal for that sort of item......man or mouse.....(eeeek).. ;)

(I smell a troll....cigar time for someone)

HH...oh and welcome

I heard they spontaneously combust at 55k ;)

Sorry but if you're not prepared to compromise then you're going to struggle. I'd sooner buy one on 55k which has been looked after and is a good car opposed to one on 50K which is a dog. This may not become apparent until you've viewed so surely it's worth investigating opposed to discarding it on face value.

Good luck with the search.

You're aware how many of these are left? Only 2 or 3 have come up in the past 12 months or so, so you'll need to be prepared to travel and also be flexible on condition and mileage. Why not just get a nicely modded turdo?

I have a TMS stage 4, from new, never knocked or scratched, 30k miles, that I don't use that will be serviced and MOT'd next Monday by Plans and has a FSH and lives in a heated, dehumidified garage that I will sell due to a change of circumstances.

PM me if interested, it comes with colour coded OM hard top, 6 spare speedlines, a spare Feezer Heater, new Toyos, original turbo and manifold, 2 sets of VXR logo'd carpets, central locking even though it was not available they fitted it for me, full Miltex exhaust, Mintex pads, plus racing pads supplied when new, armour fended from new, changed the crap horn to twins, 2 way nitrons back and front, sachs clutch, charge cooler, mapped to around 285 bhp as I remember with curves to prove, newish batterry, interal garage cover, spare new AMM which I bought but have never had to use due to a change of air filter type, never tracked but used well from the traffic lights which I consider much more fun.

PM me if interested but not with a silly price as I can afford to leave it sitting.

haha I live in Kent and actually bought my VXT from Scotland!

Isnt that bad, 45min drive to airport, £80 BA flight and breakfast included (1 hour flight)

Then a nice 7 hour drive home, but in a new exciting car, its not too bad

Sometimes you have to travel but hey if u get a good one whats one long day of hassle when you have years of fun, well I do anyway :)

I bought it as a keeper, great car but a very late TVR Tuscan takes the edge off the VXR

I should have been driving home from Scotland today in #47. It's such a shame some people have to lie to sell a car!

I'm still on the search so let me know if one comes up.

Cheers guys

Was this the one at Prestige? In Mid Lothian...

Yep thats the one

I have been waiting for a VXR220 to come up and was quite gutted when one came and went. Another one came up a few weeks later and it turned out to be the car I had missed out on a few weeks previous.

It was in Edinburgh but as these don’t come often I decided to bite the bullet and open discussions with the seller. All sounded good, apparently bought it for his wife’s 40th only to find out she was pregnant? I paid a £500 deposit and started looking into booking a flight. My excitement was dashed within the hour.

Don’t know what possessed my wife and actually quite gutted she found it and not me but the seller Bigal1975 had posted on the forum for advice with faults on the car, right up to the day before I paid the deposit. Now I know things can go wrong but when someone tells you, that she’s all good,, not had any issues I decided to approach Bigal1975 for the truth.

He told me he had someone look at it that day and she was fixed and running well, so I asked him to send me a video of the car running. He agreed and so I waited.  Asked for the reg no and he said it was on the video. It never arrived and on chasing it, told me the file was too big. Just that I should come to Edinburgh and trust his word. ‘I give you my word, its mint’

During that time I also spoke to the original seller who is a forum member and the stories don’t match. However I fallen in love with the car and really want to go for it but as you can imagine 2 different faults on the car in less than a month, conflicting stories and no video of the car running, I just had to do further research on the internet.

Because of the issues with the car I asked him to be a gent and refund my deposit, until he could give guarantees the car was in good working order. I still really wanted it and to give him the opportunity to come through.

To add to just how gutted I am Bigal1975 wants to keep £50 of my deposit to re advertise the car.

What I have concluded…

The car was being advertised through PistonHeads by Performance Portfolio Car Sales but it’s a private sale

Its been used for driving experience days (see pics) that explains the 500 miles since purchased

Advertised as standard, no mention of a remap but it has one (does my insurance company need to know this, I think so?)

Selling the car as spot on, and even let me pay a deposit knowing full well its got issues

Don’t know that its running, no evidence

Apparently got 3 people interested in it, one from France so why not give me my full deposit back

I’m not saying this a bad car, in fact it looks fantastic but if the seller had been up front as reason for sale and the issues they’ve had but rectified I would probably have still gone for it.

So Alan! was this car for you, your wife or your brother or was it for your portfolio of cars?

I'll put it down to experience, but would still like my £50 back.
