Not enough torque from that little engine to accelerate so much weight IMO. I'm all for BECs but only in a sub 400 Kg car IMO.

I like the idea of this. If they manage to strip some of the weight out of it it'll be a nice little package. The mk1 is about 960kg standard with the 1.6 engine in it so they should be able to get it sub 900kg quite easily. I'm not sure if I like this as much as the Honda'd mk1 though.

Speedhunters was showing a bolt in shed build, bit of a work in progress at moment but that was putting a honda bike lump in a mx-5, the way it is written the torque outputs seemed reasonable.

However where the torque is delivered they neglected to mention.

Needs 7000rpm to pull away in traffic :-D

I'd imagine it will eat clutches then if you have to be at 7k to pull away?

they dont need 7k to pull away unless it is geared to 200mph or something odd, Bike engined 7 cars are fine and dont kill clutchs not great for the road really IMO but good fun though
