Thought it was about time I started a project thread, so here goes...

Bought my first VX lightning yellow in September 2014. I'd been on the look out for yellow VX a few months and after viewing a few cars, I settled for LY87

It wasn't without a few problems but nothing structural, major or expensive. It was by far the best one I seen and driven. It was about a 500 mile round trip but it was worth it.

All engine mounts and bushes had been replaced and there were no squeaks or rattles, just serious burble from the VSE. Full service history, just been MOT'd, clean HPI and decent array of receipts. Plus very open n honest seller with genuine reason for selling.

I only had a week or so driving it before the tax ran out and intention was to sorn over Winter and get it ready for spring.

Pics of the day I picked it up...

After I just bought the car and pulled up, a shifty looking guy :P shouted 'is that a LY speedster?'.

So I responded 'yeah just bought it'. He said 'I've just moved in round the corner, I've got a VX too give me a shout if you need anything'.

It was only 'Batman', small world. He probably regretted saying that! Joking aside, he's been a saint and really appreciate he's help and advice.

He was soon round with his jack to help swap the wheels over.

My friend has a Moonland tubby with a TAT short round diffuser, and I was a big fan as they look like they should be OEM.

When Rosssco posted his for sale I jumped at it, big thanks to him as it was brand spankers still in the box!

Also big thanks again to Joe that helped fit it in literally game force winds (seemed a good idea at the time)

Fitted...

Looking very nice. Just fitted a brand new TAT short round to mine and am really chuffed with it. Is it a Speedster or a LY VX? Grill says Opel but rear badge says VX.

Its a VX, previous owner put the Opel speedster grill on. It'll soon be replaced with a new grill and carbon fibre V

Next on the list were the headlights. Clearly they had been taken apart and not put back together very well.

I bought new lenses, HIDs (5000k) with slim ballasts, LED sidelights and chrome indicator bulbs.
