What's the current best practice with regard to wiring the charge cooler pump (on an SC car in my case, if different) to only run with the engine? No idea what circuit(s) my relay is wired into, but it runs constantly with the ignition switched to position 2, irrespective of whether the engine is running, or not. In the absence of a proper ignition switch accessory circuit powering the stereo, sitting here listening to the radio with the ever present noise of the pump and water slopping around properly winds me up. Probably not a massive issue to most but it adds to my general malaise with the car, so would much prefer that it only runs when the rest of the annoyingly loud powertrain is running. :beat:

I think most people use the fuel pump feed to drive the CC pump relay. Thats what I did anyway. When ignition turned on the pump just runs for a few seconds while the fuel system primes, then stops until the engine is started.

I'm off the fuel pump too. IIRC, it primes for a second or two with the key in the ignition, then turns off until the car cranks.

But I haven't had an engine in my car since June so I could be completely wrong.

You should use the white/violet wire which feeds the fuel pump relay coil to also feed the cc pump relay coil.

Cheers chaps. If I use the car again this year, I might just give that a whirl. thumbsup Now if someone just had a good selection of flameproof socks I could use to stuff the entire length of the exhaust with....

 I have this wonderful image of you sitting in your VX in your garage listening to the radio! Perhaps when Jo has had enough of you moping around the house and moaning.  :P
